About Answering Service Inc.
Our company was founded in 1928 by John Engerson. Mr. Engerson was a
visionary who opened the first 24-hour call center in Michigan. In 1946 he co-founded our industry’s national trade association.
Our second president, George Robinson expanded the business to thirteen call centers throughout Metro Detroit to better serve our growing client base. He also helped design and implement new equipment that was used nationwide by our industry for over 35 years.

While the technology of our industry has changed frequently since our beginning in 1928, two important aspects of our business have remained constant. First, we always maintain a well-trained staff to provide high quality telemessaging services to our clients. Our average operators have been with us for over six years. Second, our company has always been locally owned and operated. Today, along with 80 of Metro Detroit’s finest telemessaging secretaries and support staff, the third and fourth generation of the Engerson / Robinson family continue the company’s tradition of quality service and innovation.
Our Metro Detroit call centers are in Southfield and Lincoln Park. With a network of local phone numbers, ASI currently provides telemessaging services to clients located throughout the area shown on our Coverage
